Qianlong heard it as "grits". So one spread ten, ten spread a hundred, and so it spread. "Grits" is literally a soup made of meat. It is said to be a kind of breakfast food of the Hui nationality in the ancient western regions. At first, a Muslim couple from Dadu of the Yuan Dynasty came to Linyi for business. At that time, it was called "meat paste". Later, there were more and more imitators, and it was named "grits" in the Ming Dynasty.According to the records of Linyi County annals, grits were created by Linyi people in the late Ming Dynasty. After several evolution and improvement, they gradually formed a unique Yizhou famous food. Before liberation, there were eight famous grits shops in Linyi City, and now there are 100 specialized grits shops.Chicken grits is the most representative traditional snack in Linyi. It has salty, spicy, sour and chicken flavor. It is a flavor snack in the Younan region of Shandong Province. Grits, an ancient snack, is also a kind of porridge. It should be the meat porridge in the north. Grits are made of chicken, cattle, sheep, pigs and other meat. The production methods are slightly different.It is said that when Wang Xizhi, a calligrapher of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, studied at night in his native land of Langxie (now Linyi, Shandong), his wife often made grits to enter. So it is also called "Linyi grits". Over the past hundred years, it has become a unique snack and spread all over Southwest Shandong. People like it because it is spicy and delicious, fat but not greasy, dispels wind and cold, opens food and strengthens the stomach. Drinking "grits" in the morning is a traditional food custom in Linyi.
